Stop IRS Wage Levy

Typically before the IRS initiates a wage levy you will receive a certified notice (letter) in the mail. The letter will be tittled  “Intent to Levy.”

The IRS will give a Taxpayer a thirty day grace period from the date of the notice before the levy goes into effect. During this period a taxpayer has the right to request a  hearing to discuss the tax problem that caused the IRS to issue the notice.

To stop (delay) the wage levy you should file IRS form 12153 and request a collection due process hearing.  The form is self-explanatory.

In the event that you did not receive a notice and your wages are on the verge of being garnished, the next link may be helpful.
